Abridge Expands Into Inpatient Care with AI-Powered Epic Integration
Abridge, the generative AI health tech company, is extending its capabilities into inpatient care with the launch of Abridge Inside for Inpatient, a smart documentation tool developed in partnership with Epic through its Workshop program. Seamlessly integrated with Epicβs Haiku mobile app, the tool auto-generates structured notes including history, progress, and consult notes from bedside conversations, helping clinicians save valuable time.
Piloted by Sutter Health, the solution supports both pre- and post-charting, enabling effortless transitions between patients while ensuring notes are automatically formatted in Epic.
“Abridge Inside empowers clinicians to focus more on care and less on clicks,” said Dr. Veena Jones, CMIO at Sutter Health.
In a parallel move, Abridge is also testing an AI-powered outpatient orders feature, which captures medication discussions and surfaces them for quick ordering within Epic. βItβs a game changer for busy clinics,β said Dr. Mary Kirby of Coastal Carolina.
CEO Dr. Shiv Rao underscored the significance of deep workflow integration, noting this is just the beginning. βWhat we’ve built for inpatient and outpatient workflows is a launchpad for expanding across the care continuum.β
