Meril Launches India’s First Homegrown TEER System, MyClip, for High-Risk Heart Patients

Meril Life Sciences has launched MyClip, India’s first Transcatheter Edge-To-Edge Repair (TEER) system for treating severe mitral regurgitation (MR) in high-risk patients. The minimally invasive procedure offers faster recovery and is supported by global studies showing reduced mortality. With only around 150 TEER procedures done annually in India, Meril aims to expand access through training and its awareness campaign #TreatmentZarooriHai, featuring MS Dhoni. This launch marks a major step in advancing India’s structural heart care.

In a significant leap for Indian medtech, Meril Life Sciences has unveiled “MyClip”, the country’s first ‘’Transcatheter Edge-To-Edge Repair (TEER)” system for treating ‘severe mitral regurgitation (MR)”: a life-threatening heart valve condition.

Designed for patients who face elevated surgical risks due to age, diabetes, hypertension, or frailty, MyClip offers a minimally invasive alternative to open-heart surgery. The procedure typically takes under an hour, with patients often discharged in 3–5 days and returning to light activity soon after.

MR, if untreated, has a one-year mortality rate as high as 57%. Backed by the global COAPT study, TEER has shown to significantly lower both hospitalizations and deaths compared to standard care.

Currently, only about 150 TEER procedures are performed annually in India, despite an estimated 1.5 million Indians suffering from severe MR. To address this gap, Meril is ramping up cardiologist training and promoting awareness through its nationwide campaign, #TreatmentZarooriHai, led by brand ambassador “MS Dhoni”.

This launch positions Meril as the first Indian firm to offer both valve replacement and repair platforms, marking a milestone in the country’s structural heart care journey.
