The project tested Articulate Medical Intelligence Explorer (AMIE) an AI tool designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient-doctor communication through text-based consultations.

AMIE was benchmarked against primary care physicians in India, the UK, and Canada, with JSS AHER contributing India-specific clinical simulation scenarios to ensure contextual relevance. The partnership showcases the growing role of AI in healthcare delivery and education in India.

Pro-Chancellor B Suresh called it a significant step toward integrating AI into mainstream healthcare and medical learning. Vice-Chancellor H Basavanagowdappa emphasized the collaboration’s value in fostering innovation and giving students exposure to real-world clinical AI research.

The announcement comes alongside Google’s broader push into medical AI. The company recently introduced MedGemma, part of its Gemma 3 AI model family, aimed at integrating medical imaging and textual data analysis. MedGemma and its variants, including Gemma 3n and SignGemma, are open-source models equipped with benchmark and curated datasets focused on expert evaluations across healthcare tasks.

This partnership highlights how institutions and tech leaders are working together to shape the future of AI-driven healthcare through innovation, real-world applications, and global research efforts.
